Amber's home!

Thank you so much for your prayers while Amber and the entire team was away. From the reports we have heard, the Lord blessed their time while in Peru. They were all very excited about the Lord's work that had been done. They were also ready to get home!

Day 8 - Amber

Hi Friends and Family, Just a quick update ~ Amber and the team made it safely to Lima!  Thank you for your prayers regarding their safety today.  I'm sure they are looking forward to an evening of hot showers, rest, and dinner.  May we continue to pray that the team will be a blessing of Good News to all whom they come in contact with tonight and tomorrow. If you would like to continue to follow the Holeman family and the ministry in Peru, visit www.reapnorthperu.org .  More tomorrow, Amy

Praying for Amber – Day 5

Sorry we missed day 4.  Here’s an update for day 5.  Plans have changed slightly.  Amber called her parents today from a satellite phone and had only a few seconds to talk.  She said the village does have electricity and running water.  However, Amber has been bathing in the river.  The team will leave village 1 on Friday and spend the night in a city (forgot the name) Friday night.  Saturday, they will make their way back to Lima.  They will fly out of Lima Sunday night.  Thank you for your prayers.  Please continue to pray for the team as they minister to the people in the village.   - JM

Praying for Amber – Day 3

Hi Friends and Family, Praise the Lord!  There is much to catch you up on today! Amber and the team had a safe journey on Sunday.  And, she called again this morning before they headed out to "Village 1"!  All was well.  The plan was to spend three days and two nights in Village 1.  They took camping supplies (all had to fit into ONE duffel bag), tents (from the missionary), and food (i.e. canned meat).  Although those arrangements don't sound too glorified, you'll see in this YouTube video - "Outtakes Pichanaki" why going back and forth from the village each day isn't the best of plans either.  (I randomly found this video.  I have no idea who the people are or what mission group they are with, but based on the footage and the promo video Amber had, this team probably walked some of the same paths that Amber's team will walk this week.)  Skip over to 4:05 (that's 4 minutes, 5 seconds) into the video, and you'll see the zipline that Amb

Amber in Peru

As many of you know, Amber left yesterday morning on her way to Peru with Bro. Shawn, our youth minister, and others from our state.  They left Ecru, Saturday morning around 4:15am, flew out of Jackson, connected in Atlanta, and then flew to Lima, Peru.  She called home about 1:45am when they arrived.   Today they drove over the Andes Mountain.  So after 2 days of travel, tomorrow they will begin going in to meet the people in Peru.  My older sister, Amy, has been sending out emails concerning what to pray for Amber and the team during that day.  I will be posting her email on the blog, so you too can keep up with them while they do the work of the Lord! (Even though this is late – Sunday’s email) Hi Friends and Family, Thanks for your intercession yesterday and last night.  Amber and the team made it safely to Lima and had about four hours to sleep last night.  Today they will be traveling from Lima to Pichanaki, which is north east of Huancayo pictured on the map below.  Alth

So much to say

Justin and I went out of town for the weekend and there are a few stories that need to be told from that trip.  I also want to talk about yesterday and today (Mon and Tues), but to keep us all straight - - Tonight I will blog about the weekend and later this week, I will blog about tonight! So Justin decided Thursday (while I was at school) that it would be fun to get out of town for the weekend.  (For those who don’t know, last week was his first official week back at work.)  He thought we should get out of town and spend some time together before the “hustle and bustle” of the season continues.  (Yes, we have spent lots of time together in the last few months, but this is different.)  We also decided it would be a nice time to introduce Ty (you remember our sweet puppy, right?) to traveling.  So, after searching for a few hours Thursday night, we found a hotel that didn’t cost an arm and leg to bring your pet.  (Most hotels charge at least $50 for you to bring your pet if they are
