A quick life update

It is surprising to me that I can’t keep this blog more current than a week a time.  Meg (whose blog you should really follow) who is in the middle of planning weddings, moving to a new town, and taking a relaxing beach vacation can somehow seem to update very often.  So, I guess I’m not a skilled blogger just yet. Last week, I celebrated my birthday!  My husband took me to eat at Olive Garden – love it!  Then we had Starbucks on the way home, and watched Pink Panther 2!  Then I opened my presents, my husband is very good at gifts!  He knows me all too well!  He gave me a new pair of yellow-box flip flops (Brown and white polka dots), a gift card to Hobby Lobby (could spend all day there), and a gift card to Lowe’s!  Now, most girls would not be excited about Lowe’s, but I love this store!  You should probably know that I am not much of a typical shopper.  I don’t enjoy spending hours browsing at the mall or shopping centers.  When I go shopping, I usually have a purpose and a list

Pics from Atlanta

I was so busy introducing everyone to our cute, adorable puppy that I didn’t take time to post pics from our trip to Atlanta.  When we went to get Ty, we made a weekend trip out of it.  We spent the day Friday sightseeing.  We went to World of Coke.  (For those who don’t know, I collect Coca-Cola stuff.)  I thought it was awesome (and half price from the cost of the aquarium!!)     Enjoying the memorabilia!   Seen here with the most famous polar bear in the world! Then we went to the aquarium.  It was pretty good.  They have 4 whale sharks that are not near fully grown.  They are all about 22-25 FEET long!  The aquarium tank was built large enough for 6 FULL grown whale sharks.  They also had a manta- ray or sting-ray (Can’t remember which) with a “wing-span” of 9 FEET that will grow to 25FEET wide!  The pictures don’t show accurate sizes!  We had a great time! Lastly, being a Mississippian I thought this was awesome.  The sign in the fresh water

First of all - I am an aunt again! My brother just had his 3rd child - Hayden Cade ! I'm not a good enough aunt to take pictures, sorry. but he is adorable . This week at church we have had Vacation Bible School! My sister, Amber, and I have been working with 1st and 2 nd graders. For those who know me, these are like babies to me. I am usually more comfortable with older kids. However, I have learned to love these kids! They are so innocent and so sweet! I wish had pictures of these sweet children! Today's story was about the crucifixion and the resurrection. So as I was telling the story, I asked a question about something. This sweet little girl said, "Well, He just had to raise from the dead and that's all." It was so sweet! To hear these young children tell how simple, yet how powerful the story of the cross and the empty tomb! Also this week, Justin and I are headed to Starkville for the weekend. I will be helping Meg with a wedding and Just

Life in the fast lane . . .

So, for those of you out there who think that teachers don’t deserve the summer off.  Don’t worry, I don’t feel like I’ve had a break! I have been very busy, but it has all been worth it!  I mentioned a few weeks ago that my sister was planning  a summer mission project for our church and youth group!  Many people have jumped in and worked very hard!  This week was the first week of  X-treme Life Camp !  The theme for the summer camp is living your life to the extreme for GOD!  Each week the kids are learning about people in the Bible who lived their life to the extreme for GOD!  Amber has done an excellent job with planning, our church has been very generous to donate materials and pray, and many of the youth have volunteered to help.  They have done an awesome job working with the kids! Much of the responsibility each day is theirs: set-up, clean-up, feed the kids snack, make/lead crafts, play games, etc.  I have been helping drive the vans and then I get to sit back and watch the

Way to go new moms . . .

So, as you already know, Justin and I have a new addition to our family.  His name is Ty and he is a Havenese Puppy.  We have absolutely fallen in love with our new baby! To all of you who are moms, I’m sure taking care of a puppy doesn’t even compare.  But, how do you do it?  Ty is such a sweet pup, but is very little like a baby.  First, let me say, he is a great rider!  We drove 5 and half hours home from Atlanta and he didn’t get car sick or use the bathroom in the car!  I was completely worried about this!  And, if I could steal a word from Meg . . . If Ty had gotten “happy” on me, then I would have gotten “happy” on him!  And then I’m sure, Justin would have chimed in!  Lucky for the entire family, no one got “Happy” all the way home! Ty has done a great job training to be a house dog.  We are training him to go outside and not on puppy pads.  I hope we made the right choice, but time will tell.  He has only had a few accidents in the house, and I am very glad.  But can I s
