Updates: house, baby, life

Last you heard we were headed to Florida with a 3 month old and a broke hand on momma! Here are some house pics I promised.   The brick is almost finished on the front, but I don’t have that picture yet. Beautiful Staircase! Brick Island, kitchen, dining room master bedroom Front porch – Blog points to anyone who comments on why we painted the ceiling blue!! And of course pics of sweet Elliot! Daddy puts me to sleep! Dad and I were watching the race at Mr. Chad and Mrs. Ashley’s house! These are my toes!  I can also pull off my socks! (Since there was some “drama” during his 3month b’day, this pic will have to do!) “ I was laughing at my crazy family and sitting up like a big boy!” I got my stitches out on Wednesday.  I am in the splint for another month.   When I go back in July, they will x-ray it and I will start therapy.  I can pretty well manage most things with one hand.  Elliot picks his head up well ...

Just to catch you up

I often blog in my head and for this blog, I have written a book in my head. However, for reasons you'll learn soon this will not be that book. I took pictures on my phone to update you on the house, but I'm not blogging from my phone (so another blog later). The painting is basically done, the trim work too, waiting on cabinets and then the others will finish. I have a beautiful staircase that will be published later. Elliot is now 3 months old, but we didn't take pics yet because he has had some tummy aches. Went to the doc yesterday morn, she said zantec and he will be better soon. 2 nights of screaming, tonight's been better. Yesterday, I rented a floor buffer with a sanding pad to finish cleaning our new floors. I attempted to use it and now I have a fractured bone in my left hand! Tomorrow at 7am I will have surgery and they will put a plate on that bone. Then off to the beach on Friday for family vacation!! This blog is being typed one handed from Justin...

Happy Belated

Image
April 27 was Elliot’s 2 month birthday!  He shared his birthday with Meg! (Happy Belated Birthday – Hope cooking school was awesome!)   Elliot unfortunately had to celebrate with a Dr. appointment and Round 1 of shots!  He did great, but there were tears.  I have to say the nurse did an amazing job.  She put some medicine in his mouth and he was smacking away (a little distracted and not knowing what was about to happen.)  She had all three shots given before he let out that first “yell”.  It took a few minutes and a few big tears to get him settled, but that was it!  He was great the rest of the day and did lots of napping! I start back at school on Monday (assuming I get this posted by then.)  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time off and I am not overly excited, but I do love my job. (P.S. only 19 more school days ‘til summer!) A few words from Elliot: This is how mom feels about leaving me next week: This is how I will greet he...

Happy Birthday

Image
Today is Elliot’s 1 month birthday!  I promise not to do this the rest of his life, but for the first year we will watch him grow each month!  My friend, Beth, gave me the idea!  Each month on her daughter’s birthday, she took a picture of Mary Hatley with a specific toy.  They could easily see how much she grew and changed from month to month for her first year!  Elliot received his first big boy toy a few weeks ago!  It is a “Tonka dump truck”!  So, each month on his birthday we will watch him grow by his new toy! Some pics to make us smile ! “I did it, I finally got mom down for her nap!” “Seriously, I dare you!”

Speaking with expression

Image
Elliot’s first words are many “days” away, but he is already speaking.  “Dad, I just need to rest my eyes.” “You go ahead and smile at the camera, but they aren’t looking at you!” “I’ve been held enough today, no thank you.” “This is my Superman!” “Meet ‘the boys’.  We let mom hang around to take our picture.” “Really people, I’m trying to sleep here!” “Grandma, excuse me one minute, while I look at the camera.” “This is my favorite outfit.  I wore it home from the hospital and it sure is nice” “Grammy, thank you for teaching mommy’s kids so she can  hang out with me!” “Aunt Am, I’m sorry you had to wait a week to see me, but I am cuter now than I was then!” “Here is another one with Am.  (In case she needs one at home.) “Aunt Mimi, Thank you for keeping me while mommy rested.  She is nicer when she has slept.” “Mommy has been very busy.  She looks a little tired, but I am trying to be cute for her!” ...

Months ago today . . .

The story of our new life from beginning to . . . now In June of 2011 on weekend, we took a test.  (This isn’t it!) Then we went to   and bought 3 more !  A few weeks later, we received the official wonderful news with this .  At 6 weeks gestation, the tiny circle already had a steady  beat!  At this point, he measured 3mm in diameter.  Just for the sake of perspective, the plastic tube in  ‘s is 3 CM by 3 CM that is 10 times larger than this small heartbeat. Time continued and baby grew.  At 10 weeks, this is his handsome profile. At week 11, we finally shared the news with for her birthday and gave her !  The rest of the family found out shortly after and the journey had officially begun.   Flips, turns, kicks, and more; finally it was time to find out, he was a HE! Dinner at with the family and sisters phoned in for the reveal; The anxiously awaited the reveal from Justin!  Week 22 revealed just how hands...

Congrats to . . . 1. Suzy, my cousin, for guessing the name before the last letter was released!  She was the first to send in the correct answer! 2. Chris and Paige; Chad and Ashley; and Lindsay for sending in correct answers on the blog!  Great job to Paige for being creative in her posting! 3. Ashley V. for texting in the correct answer! 4. Mrs. Donna for knowing before the last letter was posted and just heard the letters during choir practice! 5. Larry Swords for correctly guessing through a verbal guess! Charles Elliot McMillen will be joining us in a few short months!  It sounds even closer when you count it in weeks – 15 more weeks to go! Charles – Justin’s father and grandfather both had the first name of Charles!  Charles means strong, manly; valiant one. Elliot – Jehovah is my God – When we first talked about the name, we were still talking about other options until we found the meaning!  We love the meaning of his name! Thank you...
