Talladega . . . what else can you say?

Image
Well just a quick update before bedtime.  For those who don't know, Justin and I got tickets at the last minute to Talladega this past weekend!  For all you race fans, you know Talladega is the track to watch!!  Our man, Dale Jr, didn't win, but is was still an awesome race!  I forgot how loud the rumble of the cars were until the Grand Marshall gave the command to "Start your engines!"  If you've never been to a race, the roar of the engines is  an adrenaline rush to begin with!  For those of you who aren't race fans and can't believe people actually watch those 43 cars go round and round for 3-4 hours, go see a race!  It will change your mind.  Racing is just like any other sport - Pick a driver to follow!  That is how racing gets fun!  If you didn't catch the race, try to find the last few laps somewhere online!  Watch the last few seconds of the race and Carl Edwards scale the fence.  Luckily for us, it was not right in front of our seats.  Pie

Life in Ecru

Life in Ecru, fun and exciting as usual.  So, we basically have finished work in our bathroom.  We have some handles that don’t line up like the rest of the handles do, so we have to work on these, but that is all.  We painted a light tan color with dark brown cabinets, and accented with a turquoise/blue and brown shower curtain.  We are really becoming good painters and hating it more and more.  We have some other painting we would like to do in the house, but are trying to figure out how much our time is worth.  Know any good painters?  We are enjoying springtime.  It is so great to finally get the yard mowed for the first time!  I love to have a good looking yard (even though my isn’t quite perfect yet).  And the smell of a freshly tilled garden.  Justin’s uncle came and tilled the garden up today and we are ready to plant.  We are hoping to have success on the salsa this year!  Watch the blog for our first crop of the year! (I know we are looney!) School is crazy, but it’s my o

Life constantly running

When I was working on my National Boards, I felt that I couldn’t do anything else. I thought life would be easier when I finished.  It is a relief to be finished, but the truth of the matter is that “if it’s not one thing, it’s another”  to use that cliché.  So, what do you do about it?  Well, I think you enjoy everything you can, do your best, and move quickly through the difficult parts always looking for the rainbow on the other side of the rain.  I don’t know why when you get married, people call it “settling down”.  You don’t have time to do anything except your busy life.  You don’t actually settle down, you just don’t have time for anything else.  It appears to your friends that you are never around and “settled down”. When the truth is that you are hanging on the best you can.  So, what do you do about it?  Make time.  Make time for your friends and your family.  And make time to fall in love with your spouse.   (I think that is why marriages are so difficult.  People are so

Not so important . . .

I was getting on today to blog about our week and weekend.  To tell you about little things that I thought were important.  Before I began my blog, I read “The Youngs” blog (Link on side of page) which I just noticed had been updated.  And I realized that is what is important.  Instead of reading my rambling thoughts of the week  . . . Read that blog – He is RISEN!! Remember and reflect as you enjoy this Glorious Easter Sunday.

Blogging in bed . . .

There is nothing better, than laying in bed at 9:30 with no cares and a blog to share your thoughts.  (Well there may be better things, but this is pretty good right now!)  I never convince Justin that it is ok to go to bed before 10, but tonight I got my way.  Well, it helps that we have become 65 year olds.  At least that is what I tell Justin, with his morning, noon, afternoon, and night medicine box; blood pressure cuff by the bed; and still using the heater in April!  So, tonight we added going to be at 9:00!  I love it!!  We watched “Horton Hears a Who” tonight. Even though we are a few weeks late in keeping up with the new releases, it was a very cute movie.  We were hoping to rent Marley and Me, but it was not at the Redbox.  If you haven’t tried using Redbox, you should! Speaking of heat (I bolded it above – in case you didn’t follow), the cold weather can go now.  I actually did something today I’ve never had to do.  This true country girl covered her recently planted hydr

Signed, Sealed, Delivered !

Not quite like the popular song, but National Boards is sealed and delivered!  I finished and packed it on Friday, March 27th with the help of my wonderful mom!  I couldn't have completed this entire process without her!  She has been so wonderful!  Thanks MOM!   Wednesday - March 25th, Justin and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary!  He gave me a planter with Gerber daises (my favorite)!  He is so thoughtful.  Since, I was completely bogged with National Boards, we didn't go out or anything.  But when I finished packing it on Friday at 6:30pm, we threw some clothes in a bag and went to Memphis.  We mailed "the box" on Saturday morning and I thought I was going to be sick.  When you actually understand the worth of the box (extra $6000 a year) it will make you sick to think about not passing!  We went to eat at Rendezvous in Downtown for lunch!  (It was great, as usual) This week has been fast and furious as well.  In my class at school, we have started our FLUGTAG
