Are you kidding me?

So- Justin and I went to Georgia and stayed in a beautiful cabin this weekend.  We were in the foothills of Lookout Mountain.  The trip was great and I will talk more about that in another blog because . . .

After a 5 hour drive home plus a few hour detour for shopping, eating, and stretching of the legs in Huntsville, Justin and I pulled up in the driveway a little after 6pm last night.  Home-Sweet-Home.  We were so excited to see our sweet puppy- Ty.  As Justin says, the sweet puppy he had thought about on the way home – apparently went on vacation too and had not returned.

Ty was WILD!  Jumping, running, tugging, biting, tinkling in the floor, etc.  We took him out as soon as we got home and he went to the bathroom.  Then we brought him in and he went 2 or 3 more times.  It was crazy!  Anyway, wired as he was, we still tried to play with him.  I don’t think he had any interaction all day.  (He is much calmer this morning).

Then – we thought – lets watch some TV.  OR maybe not – the satellite was not working in either room.  So after trying to reset the satellite box, wiggling some wires, and unplug-replug . . .  we called DIRECTV. Guess what – the trouble shooting did not work and it will cost $50 for someone to come check on it and repair it.  What I don’t understand is this.  If you rent a house from someone and something breaks, the landlord is responsible for fixing it.  (For the most part).  Well, I “rent” this box from DIRECTV everyone month.  If something, that I don’t have control over, breaks – It shouldn’t cost me $50.  Anyway, we will pay the $50 and have TV again tomorrow.

So – no TV – lets check our email, surf the net, etc.  (Remember we are very “tech” people without internet and phone reception for 4 days.  Withdrawals are starting to kick in.)  What do you know – our monitor will not come on.  Plugged in – check!  Plugged to computer- check!  Power strip on – check!  Turn off power strip and restart- check!  Power on monitor- no . . .  Panic slightly – check!  Ok – now how do we know for sure that our computer still works.  Well - (Having a tech husband) – lets use our internet connection  from the xbox to connect to the computer (Yes – this is a fun feature) and check our files.  Except – “how ‘bout no” – the router has also bit the dust!

After speaking to my mom, apparently there was a bit of an “electrical storm”, Sunday morning.  So- thanksgivings – The power strip had the monitor, computer, printer, router, and modem plugged in.  Only 2 things affected – monitor and router.  IT could have been much worse.

Called DELL today – to check about our limited warranty.  They were extremely nice. However, just about anything besides an act of nature would have given us a FREE monitor.  However, this is not covered.

Let’s recap – DVR box in living room – received at Christmas – not working.  Monitor – bought in December of last year – not working.  Router – purchased at Spring Break – not working.

Good news!   Mom had a monitor at home they were not using, computer files are good!  The old router in the closet still works – which is how I am communicating with you.  (Yes – I hooked it all up myself!)  Seasons 1-10 of Friends already in the DVD players to replace the satellite until tomorrow!  So – SMILE today because it’s really not that bad!
