Song and Dance

Today has been a good day – I think it should be diary entry style.

7 am – Justin awakes and takes medicines.  (Last dose of prescription pain medicine 3am.  Now taking only Tylenol and Motrin!)

7:30 – Mrs. Anita calls for breakfast order

8am – Justin takes a walk in anticipation of breakfast

8:30 – Breakfast arrives – Sausage and biscuit as requested.

Mid – morning – Cardiologist (Dr. K) arrives as Justin is being weighed.  This is the first time Dr. K has seen Justin vertical.  He is very happy.   (We told him Justin had been up and walking, but by the time Dr. K gets here each day, Justin is resting again.)  Justin comments - “I have a bone to pick with you.”

**Let me explain before I finish the story.  After heart surgery (and probably other surgeries) you are given an Inhaling device that you inhale into to reach a certain goal.  This one has 3 tubes with a ball in each.  If you inhale hard enough you raise all 3 balls.  This is the goal.  It helps expand the lungs after you have been on the ventilator (I think).

Dr. K – looks at him funny  - Justin continues, “You told me yesterday that if I got all 3 balls to raise up, this device would sing a song! – Dr. K smiles and says, “Maybe as a consolation, we will have Dr. V do a little dance.”

The doctors have joined right in with Justin’s sarcasm.  They have had a good time together.  I thought this story was only appropriate since a few of you think that Justin should dance for his recovery.  (Am – Justin says the gopher dance has many more moving parts that meets the eye.  He will have to work up to this.)

Also Mid morning – Justin walked “downstairs” for a chest x-ray. For some of our readers (LY), I should clarify.  Justin walked to the elevator, rode the elevator down to the 2nd floor, and walked around to the x-ray dept.  Then stood for the x-ray and returned in the reverse route.

Noon – Lunch – Ham sandwich, chips, pepsi, choc chip cookie

1pm – Special visitor – A co-worker of Justin’s who was in town for a conference surprised Justin with a visit!

3pm – Rolled to get a CT scan.  Rolled to the elevator, rode to the 2nd floor, waited in an exam room, then went to CT, then back up around 4pm.

5pm – Supper – PB and J, chips, pepsi, choc cupcake

5:30 Walk around the neighborhood (This is a longer distance than the block).  While out for a walk, He and Mrs. Anita put “Pontotoc on the map”

(Map on wall, you put a sticker where you are from).

8pm – Walk around the neighborhood

10pm – Listen to Abigail talk to Amy on the phone for about an hour.

**The day has also been showered with gift baskets and balloons from various people.  Thank you so much for thinking of us.

It is a possibility that we will be discharged on Tuesday (Today or tomorrow – depending on when you read this).  After being released from the hospital, we will be staying at the hotel for about a week. Then we will have a follow up visit before flying home to Ecru.

Thanks for sharing in our lives!!
