Amber in Peru
As many of you know, Amber left yesterday morning on her way to Peru with Bro. Shawn, our youth minister, and others from our state.
They left Ecru, Saturday morning around 4:15am, flew out of Jackson, connected in Atlanta, and then flew to Lima, Peru. She called home about 1:45am when they arrived. Today they drove over the Andes Mountain. So after 2 days of travel, tomorrow they will begin going in to meet the people in Peru. My older sister, Amy, has been sending out emails concerning what to pray for Amber and the team during that day. I will be posting her email on the blog, so you too can keep up with them while they do the work of the Lord!
(Even though this is late – Sunday’s email)
Hi Friends and Family,
Thanks for your intercession yesterday and last night. Amber and the team made it safely to Lima and had about four hours to sleep last night. Today they will be traveling from Lima to Pichanaki, which is north east of Huancayo pictured on the map below. Although mapquest does not find Pichanaki, :) one blog I read noted that Pichanaki was an 11 hour bus ride from Lima. Thankfully, they are not going by bus, but it will be a long journey on mountainous roads, nonetheless.
Tonight they will stay in a hostal (basically a guest house) in Pichanaki. According to one blogger, Pichanki is home to 3 hostals (we don't know which one the team is staying at), all of which are "reasonably okay" (of course, that is a subjective description).

You can view additional photos of Pichanaki (a city where coffee exports are becoming a way of life) at this blogger's photo site. If you view the photos, you'll see she will have ample reason to praise the Lord as Creator today!
More tomorrow,
Amy
(Mom heard from Amber, and they have arrived safely!)
