“ . . . house upon the rock.”

As our lives continue to be filled with lots to do, there is progress on our new house!

If you refer to the previous post, you will see that since March 26 our foundation was full of water for weeks!  With record snowfall and rain since we signed loan papers in November, we have been waiting and learning to wait patiently!  One week ago Thursday, the concrete truck arrived!  (After a few days of digging out, relaying steele, etc.) Aunt L sent me a text at school to update that a concrete truck was at my house!!

This is all for the foundation.  I certainly don’t want to take scripture out of context, but we are physically building our house on “rock”!  And we can’t wait!

In the meantime, Justin has had an exciting Month of May!  May 7th we had a great crawfish boil with our Sunday School class!  It was delicious!  (Justin likes to think it was the kick-off for the month of Justin) Last weekend, we went to Memphis for the weekend!  It was wonderful!  Have you ever felt at the end of the day or even worse the end of the week that you haven’t accomplished anything, wasted your time, or not really sure where the time went?   Last Friday, was not one of these moments!  Justin and I packed Thursday night and worked 1/2 days on Friday.  We headed to Memphis, checked in our hotel and rested a few minutes.  At this point we had been up since 6am and the day was just beginning (it was 4pm).  We headed across town and at supper at Rendevous, Justin’s favorite.  We walked to the river and took some pictures, mainly just took in the moment.  It was definitely a once in a lifetime to see the “Mighty Mississippi” pushing the limits!  After our photo session, we headed back downtown and decided to go to a Redbirds baseball game.  I’m not really the biggest baseball fan, but we thought it would be something different!  We had a blast!  It was like we were cheering on our favorite local team, such a rush!  We will definitely being returning!  We were back at the hotel by 10pm and I felt very accomplished.  Not wasted time, just lots of good quality time spent with my husband for his birthday!

Last night, we had a surprise/not surprise birthday party for Justin!  (Monday is his 30th!)  Surprise in that he didn’t know we were going to do anything special.  Not a surprise in that when he saw the tables out and the grill fired up he knew something was up!  We all had a great time! Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated with us!
